Workplace Coffee & Hydration Case Study | Miller Homes

Creating a Workplace Refreshment Experience People Genuinely Enjoy

When businesses invest in a new office or refurbish an existing workplace, considerable thought goes into creating an environment where people enjoy spending their working day.

Meeting rooms, collaborative spaces, breakout areas and furniture all play their part. But what about the coffee and hydration experience?

When Miller Homes approached Complete Refreshment Solutions as part of its move into a new office environment, the requirement was not simply to install a coffee machine.

It was about creating a refreshment experience that complemented the new workplace and, importantly, worked for the people using it every day. Understanding the workplace first

One of the most important considerations when choosing workplace coffee and hydration equipment is understanding how the space will actually be used.

How many people will use it?

What drinks do they want?

When are the busiest periods?

How easy will the equipment be to use?

And how will it fit within the overall workplace environment?

For Miller Homes, we recommended a combination of premium fresh-milk coffee and a modern hydration solution, creating a refreshment point that could be used throughout the working day.

Bring the coffee shop experience into the workplace

For Miller Homes, the Gaggia G100 was selected to bring a premium fresh-milk coffee experience into the heart of the workplace.

Rather than simply providing a standard office coffee, employees can enjoy a choice of coffee shop style drinks throughout the day, from silky flat whites and creamy lattes to frothy cappuccinos, espressos and americanos, all freshly prepared at the touch of a button.

It’s the kind of coffee experience people increasingly enjoy on the high street, made conveniently available without leaving the workplace.

And importantly, it doesn’t require a staffed coffee bar or trained barista. The G100 combines freshly prepared drinks with the simplicity and consistency needed in a busy office environment, allowing everyone to enjoy their preferred coffee whenever they want it.

Since installation, the machine has become a well-used part of the Miller Homes workplace, with particularly positive feedback from the team about the quality of the coffee.

More choice than simply hot and cold water

Alongside the coffee experience, Miller Homes wanted hydration to form an equally considered part of its new workplace environment.

The Borg & Overström T3 provides chilled, ambient, sparkling and hot water from one beautifully integrated tap, giving employees much greater choice throughout the working day.

Chilled water provides instant refreshment, while sparkling water offers an enjoyable alternative for people who might otherwise reach for a bottled or canned fizzy drink.

The hot water option also expands the drinks experience beyond coffee, allowing the workplace to offer everything from a traditional English breakfast tea to an increasingly wide choice of speciality and herbal teas.

And because everything is delivered through one integrated tap, there’s no need to fill the breakout area with separate water coolers, kettles and other equipment.

The result is a clean, contemporary refreshment area that provides choice without compromising the design of the workplace.

The T3 has proved particularly popular with the Miller Homes team since installation and offers an inclusive solution.

It’s about more than choosing a machine

The Miller Homes project demonstrates something we regularly discuss with customers.

Creating a great workplace refreshment experience isn’t simply about looking through a catalogue and choosing a coffee machine. The right solution depends on the people, the workplace, the number of drinks required, the type of experience the business wants to create and how the equipment will be used every day.

Sometimes that means coffee. Sometimes hydration. More often, it’s about bringing several elements together to create a refreshment area that genuinely works for the workplace.

Creating spaces where people naturally connect

A good workplace coffee area also serves another purpose. It’s somewhere people naturally come together.

Colleagues stop for a coffee, have conversations, take a few minutes away from their desks and interact with people they may not otherwise see during their working day.

That’s why we believe workplace refreshments should be considered as part of the wider employee experience.

The equipment matters. The coffee matters. But ultimately, it’s the experience you create around them that makes the difference.
